Sites et Cités remarquables de France

Sites & Cités remarquables de France, the "Association Ville et Pays d'art et d'histoire et des sites patrimoniaux remarquables", is a network of 300 towns and territories, i.e. nearly 2,000 municipalities and 14 million inhabitants in mainland France and the French overseas territories, which have a development project based on their heritage.

Created 20 years ago, the association promotes a broad and decompartmentalized vision of heritage, fully integrating urban quality, urban planning, housing, economic development and tourism, social and cultural development. As a forum for elected officials and technicians to discuss policies related to heritage and the revitalisation of old town centres, as a tool for national and international networking, training and information, it is a key contact for national, regional and local authorities on heritage issues.

The network's action covers the entire heritage chain, from the reclamation of city centres to housing, from public spaces to the tourist economy. With its member local authorities recognised by the Ministry of Culture, labelled or classified, the Association organises working groups and capitalises on experience. It supports its members in their projects and is committed to the development of heritage in order to develop local tourism.
